Bringing Hope Through Water: Habema Builds Water Tower for Aisa Village

PAPUA - Soldiers of the Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif) Para Raider 501/Bajra Yudha Kostrad, under the HABEMA Operational Command in Papua, are making a tangible difference in the lives of border communities. On Sunday, December 15, 2024, in Aisa Village, Maybrat Regency, Southwest Papua Province, the task force installed a much-needed water tower to address the community's ongoing struggles with access to clean water.

Led by Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Yakhya Wisnu Arianto, the construction of the water tower represents the Indonesian Army's (TNI) unwavering commitment to improving the well-being of remote communities. "This water tower provides not just water but also hope for better living conditions. We aim to enhance the community's quality of life, especially in health and sanitation, " said Lt. Col. Yakhya Wisnu Arianto.

The project was met with excitement and gratitude from Aisa Village residents, who have long faced challenges in accessing clean water. "We used to walk far to collect water, often struggling to meet our daily needs. This tower has changed everything for us, " said Mama Afrida, a resident of Aisa Village.

The water tower’s installation is more than a functional upgrade; it embodies the TNI's mission to build bridges of trust and support with communities in its operational areas. Brigadier General TNI Lucky Avianto, Commander of HABEMA, highlighted this sentiment, saying, "This initiative demonstrates our dedication to inclusive engagement with the people of Papua. It is through such actions that we hope to accelerate development and foster unity in the region."

The water tower is expected to significantly reduce the physical burden on residents, improve hygiene, and lay the foundation for a healthier community. It also symbolizes the TNI’s broader commitment to nurturing resilience and uplifting lives in Papua's border regions.

Through actions like these, the HABEMA Command and Satgas Yonif 501 Kostrad reaffirm their role as not only protectors of the nation but also as agents of meaningful change.
